Pete ProdoehlWho are you and what do you do?
Pete Prodoehl. I’m the VP of Interactive Media at Z2 Marketing in Pewaukee, and also own 2XL Networks. I’m a web geek, musician, filmmaker, photographer, and lover of all things media related. (I also work at Z2 Photo, but not as a photographer.)

Why are you attending PhotoCampMilwaukee?
I want to learn more about photography. I’ve learned a lot at work, and online, but want to spend some good quality time with other people to get some completely different points of view. Plus, I’m helping run it, so I have to be there! :)

What’s in your camera bag?
I finally got my first DSLR in 2008 (a Nikon D40) and before that I used whatever point and shoot I had at the time, and a Nikon D70 at work. I’m mostly a “kit lens loser” but also have a old 50mm I’ve been using, as well as weird stuff like a reversing ring, cheapie macro & wide-angle adapter, old manual flash, etc… I like to do photography on the cheap, DIY style.

If you were to lead a session, what would it be about?
I’d call it “Cheap (Photography) Tricks: Getting the most bang for the least bucks with your gear” and it would be about trying not to go broke while getting into photography.

If you were to attend your dream session, what would it be about?
Probably a session on the basics of off-camera flash, including the best way to get started, the equipment to use, the costs involved, techniques, etc.

Tell us one random fact about yourself.
I used to hate having my picture taken.
